Road Trip

Our team was going on a little road trip with our translators to Hyderabad, a city about 8 hours away, that has Starbucks and other “normal” things. The plan was to leave at 4am, but we all didn’t wake up till 4:30, rushed around, and didn’t pull out of the drive till 5.
We were about 15 minutes in, and Emma tells us she really doesn’t feel good, and asks to be taken home. So, sadly, we head back as she’s half passed out on Benadryl, and drop her off. Once we were on the road again we stopped for some chai and Anand, our translator, realized he forgot his shoes! We didn’t let him turn around for them though, And when he was handing us our chai (in the car) he smacked his head so hard on the door. We laughed for about 5 minutes, even though he didn’t think it was too funny.
We continued along the way through the morning fog, that sometimes made it nearly impossible to see the road. Babu, our other translator was making little goggles with his hands. We passed a wreck from a car that went down the wrong side of the road. And somehow there were a TON of mosquitos in the car! (Ashley screamed as she smashed them on the window.) We stopped for breakfast and got butter dosas, which essentially taste like a giant Cheez-it.
Eventually the four of us made it to Hyderabad despite the rough start, and during our few days here we will also be attending an engagement ceremony!!!
